You should try to be aware of your surroundings when you are working at the Learning Commons. If patrons are trying to study and you feel as if other patrons are being disruptive, you should not feel awkward about asking them to show consideration and respect.
You may note a guide by the circulation counter which describes procedures to follow in the event that emergency situations develop such as Active Shooters, Bomb threats, Earthquakes, Fire Emergencies, Hazardous/Infectious Waste Spills, Injuries or Health Emergencies, Power Outages, Crime, Suspicious Packages or Strange Person(s) appear in the Library. Also to be noted are Unusual Behavior that you believe might constitute a threat to you or the Library. Therapy or Service dog issues also must be noted and reported to your supervisors. If you notice or suspect anything strange is going on, please call Campus Security at 510-456-6239. In the event you are unable to wait for Campus Security to respond and you believe the situation is life-threatening or otherwise serious, then please call 911.
